ENG vs IND [WATCH]: Go on, throw it! – Akash Deep dares Brydon Carse in explosive face-off on Day 4 of Lord’s Test

Tempers flared and emotions surged late on Day 4 of the third Test at Lord’s, as India’s Akash Deep and England’s Brydon Carse collided in a heated mid-pitch confrontation that brought a raw, gladiatorial edge to an already fiercely contested series.

Akash Deep stares down Brydon Carse in tense Lord’s face-off

It was the 17th over of India’s chase of 193 , a chase that was already wobbling at 58/3. Carse, riding high on adrenaline after dismissing Karun Nair and Shubman Gill in quick succession, steamed in with fire in his eyes. On one particular delivery, Akash Deep stepped forward with a solid defensive block. The ball trickled away harmlessly, but the tension didn’t. Carse, clearly incensed, threatened to hurl the ball back at the stumps, holding it with intent as if daring Akash Deep to move. But the Indian pacer wasn’t backing down.

“Go on then, throw it!”

Akash Deep reportedly snapped back at Carse, glaring him down with the fearlessness. The verbal volleys escalated. Carse took a few aggressive steps forward, and Akash Deep stood his ground, refusing to be intimidated. Umpires were quick to intervene, but the crowd at Lord’s had already erupted, not with polite applause, but with stunned gasps and growing tension. Just minutes after the exchange, the drama intensified. Carse’s teammate and captain, Ben Stokes, capped off the fiery session by uprooting Akash Deep’s off-stump with the final delivery of the day, sending the Indian dressing room into silence. The England side, emboldened and ruthless, walked off roaring with momentum in their corner.

India cornered but hope hangs on KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant alliance

India now stand at 58/4, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Shubman Gill and Akash Deep all back in the hut. The pursuit of 193, seemingly straightforward on paper, has suddenly become a nerve-wracking battle of grit and skill. KL Rahul, India’s centurion from the first innings, remains the last pillar of calm in the chaos, and he will need his partner Rishabh Pant, the same man who was controversially run out for 74 earlier,  to summon something extraordinary on Day 5. Their 141-run partnership in the first innings gave India hope. On the final day, they’ll need to do it again,  not just to chase a target, but to silence an England side that has grown louder and more hostile with every session. With Washington Sundar’s 4-wicket haul earlier restricting England to just 192 in their second innings, the bowling unit has already done its job. But now, as the shadows lengthen over Lord’s, it’s the batters’ turn to finish what the bowlers started.
