Speaking about the same, Rathi revealed that there was no heated exchange or aggressive intent, but it was just a friendly banter between two close friends. The celebration wasn’t a message or a taunt, as the mystery spinner simply wrote Priyansh’s name in his notebook.

The LSG bowler said that it was just a playful nod to his promise as the duo made a bet with each other over their celebration against each other.

Digvesh Rathi was quoted as saying by Sports Tak, “Nothing, sir. Priyansh is a good friend of mine. I didn’t say anything to him. We were just talking to each other. He said that if I hit him, I’ll do this. I told him that if I get you out, I’ll do this.”

The spinner didn’t reveal much, only mentioning that he had written Priyansh’s name. Rathi noted, “Nothing, sir. I didn’t write anything. It was just his name. I wrote his name in my notebook.”

However, the LSG spinner had to face a fine twice for his notebook celebration, and there was a lot of debate among former cricketers and cricket experts over the BCCI’s move. However, Rathi calmly accepted the fines and said that the rules are rules.

The 25-year-old bowler further said, “Those are the rules. We cannot go against the rules made by the BCCI. So, according to that, I will have to follow those rules.”

On being asked if he writes the name of the batter he dismisses on the ground or something else, Rathi didn’t give a straightforward answer, as he hinted that there’s a secret he’s not ready to reveal just yet. Rathi signed off by saying, “There is a name, and there is some secret.”

Notably, before making his IPL debut, Rathi had played only 11 T20s and taken 12 wickets, but still managed to catch the Lucknow Super Giants’ attention. They signed the leg-spinner for INR 30 lakhs at the IPL 2025 mega auction, and he is now doing justice with every penny.

He has so far played nine matches for the LSG in the ongoing season and scalped nine wickets at an average of 29.11 and an economy rate of 7.27.
