ENG vs IND: Fans erupt as England bowlers hit back late after Washington Sundar wrecks hosts at Lord’s

The fourth day of the Lord’s Test between England and India ended in thrilling fashion, with the match evenly poised and both teams in with a chance to win on the final day. It was finally a day dominated by bowlers in a series where batters had largely flourished. India finished the day at 58 for the loss of 4 wickets, needing 135 more runs to seal a memorable victory.

Early wickets put India under pressure in their second innings

India began their fourth innings chasing a modest but tricky target of 193 runs. The pitch had started to help the bowlers, and England made early inroads. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for a duck, top-edging a short ball from Jofra Archer.

Karun Nair, who has struggled all series, left a ball that came in sharply and was given out lbw to Brydon Carse for 14. The biggest setback came when captain Shubman Gill was bowled for just 6 by another sharp delivery from Carse.

The English bowlers kept things tight, with Archer, Carse, and Ben Stokes bowling with great control and energy. The pitch made things harder, with some deliveries staying low and troubling the batters. England’s bowlers created many chances and didn’t allow India to settle. In the final over of the day, Stokes struck, removing Akash Deep to end the day on a high for the home side. India finished the day under pressure, needing more runs with fewer wickets in hand. With both teams still in the game, the stage is set for a tense and exciting finish on Day 5.

Washinton Sundar shines as England batters crumble on Day 4 at Lord’s

Earlier in the Day, England’s second innings fell apart on Day 4 at Lord’s as they were bowled out for 192 in just 62.1 overs. Openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave a steady start but failed to build on it. Joe Root stood out with a composed 40, but the rest of the batting lineup offered little resistance. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 4 wickets, including the key scalps of Root and Stokes. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj picked up two wickets each, while Akash and Nitish Reddy took one each. England lost wickets at regular intervals, unable to stitch meaningful partnerships.
