Prasidh Krishna is having his best season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year as he is picking wickets for fun while maintaining a commendable economy rate. To put things in perspective, the Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer has picked up 19 wickets from 10 matches. He has equalled his best tally for an IPL season. In IPL 2022, he had picked up 19 wickets, but they came from 17 games.
On Friday, May 2, Krishna conceded just 19 runs in his four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 29-year-old picked up the important wickets of Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen as GT restricted SRH to 186/6 after setting up a 225-run target.
After winning the Player of the Match award, Krishna said that he has had a good amount of control over the lengths that he has bowled. He also spoke about the support that he is getting from his colleagues at GT and the preparations he is putting in behind the scenes.
“I think my control over the length has been good, and all the work that we’ve been putting in as a team and everybody around has been supportive enough for me to get to where I am now. And yeah, I’m enjoying the way the ball is coming out of the hand,” Krishna was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo after the match.
“My preparation would start firstly by getting control over what I want to do, get back into the practice, get back in the nets, do exactly what I would do against somebody that I’d be facing in a particular game and then from there, get on game day, look at what the pitch is like,” he added.
Krishna, who is currently holding the IPL Purple Cap, has an average of 15.37 and a strike rate of 12.32 in IPL 2025. He is bowling at an economy rate of 7.49. The Karnataka speedster said that when GT bowls second, he makes it a point to follow the first innings closely to devise his plans.
“If you’re bowling second, make sure you watch every single ball of the 20 overs somebody else bowls, take all that you can from them. And I have a lot of people around me that have played a tremendous amount of cricket. So just have a chat with them, try and make sure you hit the right areas and take it from there,” Prasidh said.
