Ishan Kishan slams ton on SRH debut, becomes first centurion of IPL 2025

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s newest addition wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scripted history on Sunday, March 23 as he became the first centurion of the ongoing IPL 2025. Playing against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Kishan reached the milestone in just 45 balls, making it his maiden IPL hundred after featuring in the tournament since 2016.

Kishan, who was acquired by SRH for a whopping INR 11.25 crore in the 2025 IPL auction, justified the price tag with a brilliant century. His innings included 11 boundaries and six maximums, with his runs coming at a strike rate of 222.22.

Walking in after Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal, Kishan wasted no time in taking the attack to the opposition. He formed a crucial partnership with Australian batter Travis Head, guiding the Hyderabad franchise to 94 runs in just six overs. Head’s 67 off 31 balls, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s quick-fire 30 off 15, and Heinrich Klaasen’s 14-ball 34 took SRH to 286, becoming the second-highest total in the history of the competition.

“Just feel good. I was hoping for it [the century]. The team is doing well, and the environment is very different… When Abhishek and Head started the innings, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters. Credit goes to them also. The pitch was really good, and we were just trying to get them under pressure,” Kishan told broadcasters after his breathtaking assault.
