Despite the sensitive situation and growing public outrage, especially in India, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has given the green signal to the Asia Cup 2025 match against Pakistan following a virtual discussion with the BCCI officials at a crucial meeting in Dhaka on July 24.

The announcement hasn’t gone down well with fans, the cricket fraternity, or the politicians. Now, former India cricketer and IPL winner Manoj Tiwary has expressed his sentiments, calling for the Asia Cup 2025 match to be scrapped due to the recent violence.

The former KKR batter has acknowledged the growing sentiment across the nation and strongly opposed the idea of playing against Pakistan, especially after innocent lives were lost in the terror attack. He also insisted that this is not the right time for such an India-Pakistan match.
Manoj Tiwary was quoted as saying by ANI: “I am against it. The India-Pakistan match should not be held, especially after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which civilians were killed. After that, Operation Sindoor took place. The situation was so bad; how can we think of an India-Pakistan match? I feel that it should be reconsidered, and the India-Pakistan match should not happen in such an environment.”

During a heated discussion in the Lok Sabha on July 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a strong message to Pakistan. The Prime Minister has made it clear that any hostile action from Pakistan would face a powerful response, as Operation Sindoor is still underway.
Mentioning Narendra Modi’s remarks, Tiwary questioned how a cricket match could take place between the two countries amid the ongoing military operation and tense situation.
He signed off by saying, “Our Prime Minister is saying that Operation Sindoor is still going on… How can we play a match with Pakistan?”

Notably, India might face Pakistan three times in the Asia Cup 2025. Both teams are in Group A and will first meet on September 14. If they reach the Super Four stage, they will play again on September 21. If both teams make it to the final, they will face off once more on September 28.

Even India Champions reportedly decided not to play against Pakistan in the semifinal of the World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025) that is scheduled on July 31 in Birmingham. India Champions made it to the semifinals after a stunning win over the West Indies Champions.
Earlier, the group match of the World Championship of Legends 2025 between India and Pakistan was cancelled after Indian players and a key sponsor raised objections. Even former stars like Suresh Raina and Dhawan had openly refused to share the field with Pakistani legends.
