In a thrilling encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a dominant 100-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2025. Opting to bowl first, Rajasthan’s bowlers struggled to contain a powerful MI batting line-up, as the visitors posted a formidable total of 217/2 in 20 overs.
The opening partnership between Rickelton and Rohit Sharma set the tone for MI’s massive total. Rickelton’s 61 off 38 balls, including three fours and six sixes, provided a solid start, while Rohit’s 53 off 36 balls maintained the momentum. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya then took charge, both finishing unbeaten on 48 runs. Their contributions propelled MI to a commanding total, with the final extras tallying up to seven runs.
Chasing a steep target of 218, RR’s batting crumbled under pressure. They lost early wickets, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi dismissed for a duck and Yashasvi Jaiswal following soon after for just 13. The middle order was equally fragile, as Boult (3/28) and Bumrah (2/15) wreaked havoc. Riyan Parag (16) and Shubham Dubey (15) showed brief resistance, but no RR batter could cope with the MI bowlers’ intensity.
Despite the best efforts of Jofra Archer with the bat, who scored 30 runs, Rajasthan were bowled out for a meagre 117 in just 16.1 overs. MI extended their winning streak to six matches and soared to the top of the points table. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, were eliminated from the tournament after this heavy defeat.
