The Hundred 2025 began in dramatic fashion at the iconic Lord’s on Tuesday, but not just because of the cricket. The opening game between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles saw an unexpected and hilarious interruption when a fox dashed across the field, stopping play and leaving the players, commentators, and fans in splits.
Fox halts play during the The Hundred 2025 opener
The moment occurred while Oval Invincibles were chasing their target, with Spirit pacer Daniel Worrall about to deliver the next ball. Commentators Eoin Morgan and Stuart Broad were left amused, joking about how the cheeky intruder could be escorted off the pitch without causing any chaos.
The lively pitch invader, a fox, quickly became a crowd favourite as it sprinted across the ground, soaking up the applause from the Lord’s faithful. Luckily, the fox eventually made its way off the field without further delay, bringing a light-hearted moment to a high-stakes contest. The bizarre incident instantly went viral on social media, with many fans dubbing it one of the most entertaining interruptions in cricket.

Oval Invincibles dominate London Spirit in the clash
Beyond the unexpected guest, the match itself turned out to be a one-sided affair. Kane Williamson, captain of London Spirit, won the toss and chose to bat first. However, his decision backfired as Spirit’s top order crumbled early, with Keaton Jennings, David Warner, and Williamson himself departing cheaply.
Rashid Khan and Sam Curran ran through the batting lineup, taking three wickets each and bowling Spirit out for just 80 runs in 94 balls. In reply, Oval Invincibles chased down the target with ease as captain Sam Billings and Donovan Ferreira guided their team home with 31 balls to spare.
