WATCH: Ishan Kishan imitates Harbhajan Singh’s bowling action in County Championship 2025

In a rare yet exciting moment, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan made headlines on Wednesday — not for his batting or wicketkeeping skills, but for his unexpected bowling stint in the County Championship 2025. A clip recently shared on social media grabbed widespread attention, with fans reacting with surprise and laughter.

Ishan Kishan mocks Harbhajan Singh’s action in a light-hearted moment

The event unfolded during the 43rd match of the County Championship between Somerset and Nottinghamshire, where Kishan was representing the latter. In the third innings, Nottinghamshire skipper Haseeb Hameed handed the ball to Kishan, and the wicketkeeper-batter surprised everyone by starting with an imitation of former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh’s iconic bowling action. With each delivery, Kishan experimented with different variations of off-breaks. On the fourth ball of his over, he even attempted a leg-spin delivery while going around the wicket.

Throughout the over, Kishan and his teammates were seen sharing smiles, clearly enjoying the light-hearted moment. The spontaneous display not only entertained those on the field but also brought a cheerful break to the intensity of red-ball cricket.

Kishan shines with the bat as Nottinghamshire plays a draw with Somerset

Meanwhile, the left-hander has shown promise with the bat during his short stint with Nottinghamshire in the prestigious County Championship. In the first game, he scored a gritty 87, narrowly missing out on a much-deserved century against Yorkshire. In the second match, Kishan contributed a solid 77 before being dismissed by Jack Leach, playing a key role in helping his side post a massive total of 509 runs. Although the match eventually ended in a draw, Kishan once again showcased his batting capabilities in the longest format of the game.

Kishan last featured in red-ball cricket during India’s tour of the West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval. Since then, he has struggled to find a place in the national side and has been out of the team across all formats. However, the young cricketer received a boost earlier this year after being reinstated in the BCCI’s annual contract list — a development that gives him renewed hope for a comeback.
