Zimbabwe vs New Zealand 2025: Test Stats and Records at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo

Zimbabwe are set to host New Zealand for a two-match Test series, beginning on July 30 in Bulawayo. This marks the first red-ball encounter between the two sides since 2016, when the Black Caps dominated with a 2-0 series win.

Zimbabwe had a tough outing in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa and the subsequent Tri-Series involving New Zealand and the Proteas. The hosts failed to register a single win in the tri-nation tournament, which was eventually won by New Zealand after they edged past South Africa in a nail-biting final.

Brendan Taylor’s potential comeback on the cards?

However, Zimbabwe will be boosted by the return of Ben Curran and Brian Bennett from injury. In addition, there is growing speculation around the possible inclusion of veteran batter Brendan Taylor, whose three-and-a-half-year ban for breaching the ICC’s anti-corruption code ended on July 25. His potential comeback could add invaluable experience to the Zimbabwean batting unit.

Fresh Faces in New Zealand Squad

For New Zealand, fast bowler Matt Fisher has earned his maiden Test call-up and will strengthen a pace attack that already includes Nathan Smith, Will O’Rourke, and Jacob Duffy. Moreover, Michael Bracewell has been drafted in as a replacement for the injured Glenn Phillips for the opening Test, adding depth to the Kiwi all-round options.
