Shardul Thakur, a 33-year-old all-rounder, has shared his plans after not being picked by any IPL team in the recent auction. Despite this setback, he remains determined to make a comeback.
Wants to Play for India Again
Thakur has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider him for the national team again after being dropped from all formats.
Doing Well in Ranji Trophy
Thakur is not currently part of India’s plans, but he is shining in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He has helped Mumbai reach the knockouts by scoring 396 runs in nine innings and taking 30 wickets. His latest performance includes a six-wicket haul in the quarter-final against Haryana.
Handling Disappointment
Thakur admitted he feels disappointed about not being in the team but focuses on the game when he is on the field. “When there’s no place in the team, there’s naturally disappointment. But once I step onto the field, my entire focus is on the match,” he said.
Hopes for England Tour
Experts believe Thakur could be recalled for the Test team for the upcoming England tour. Thakur is hopeful and motivated to play for India again. “I believe I’m in contention. The next step is to make my place in the team and earn selection,” he said.
Plans to Play County Cricket
Thakur also plans to play County Cricket during the IPL season to get used to English conditions. “If I get an offer, I’ll definitely play. It would be a great new experience,” he mentioned.
